Question : RESERVATION QUOTA FOR OBC IN MP



(a) whether the Government of Madhya Pradesh had ever recommended to the Union Government to increase the reservation quota for the OBCs in the State in Government jobs during the period between 1993 to 1998;

(b) whether the Government of Madhya Pradesh have also sent several reminders in this connection to the Union Government; and

(c) if so, the present status of the representation and the reasons for the delay in implementation of the said recommendation?

(a) & (b) Yes, Sir.

(c) In pursuance of the directions of the President of India dated December 7,2001 under the provision of Article 201 read with Article 200 of the Constitution, the Government of Madhya Pradesh has already been informed that the Madhya Pradesh Lok Seva (Anusuchit Jatiyon,Anusuchit Janjatiyon Aur Anya Pichhade Vargon Ke Liye Arakshan)Sanshodhan Vidheyak, 1995 be returned to the Legislature of the State of Madhya Pradesh together with a message that the Legislature reconsider it and suitably amend to provide that:


(i) the percentage of total reservation for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes should not exceed 50% ;and

(ii) the category-wise percentage of reservation for Scheduled Castes should be the same for all posts, i.e., Class I to Class IV.
