(a): Coal India Limited (CIL) and its subsidiaries undertake Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) as per Scheduled VII of Companies Act 2013.
(b) to (d) : As per CSR policy of CIL, subsidiaries of CIL have to spend 80% of their CSR fund within a radius of 25 kms. of their project sites/mines/area Head Quarter (HQ)/company HQ. Major development works/activities undertaken from CSR funds by coal PSUs are infrastructure development, skill development, social empowerment, water supply, health and sanitation, promotion of sports and providing education facilities etc. The details of CSR funds allocated and spent during the last three years and current year by CIL and its subsidiaries are furnished in the table below:

The physical progress of major development works/activities undertaken as part of CSR by CIL and its subsidiaries is at Annexure A.
(e): The coal PSUs are not in default of spending CSR funds as per Companies Act 2013.
(f): In CIL and its subsidiaries, miners are provided the following relief in case of accident:
A- Relief/compensation to the families of mine workers of CIL and its subsidiaries who suffered accidents or die due to mine accident: -
1. Compensation under the Employee’s Compensation Act, 1923.
2. An amount of ? 15 lakh is paid as Ex-gratia
3. An amount upto ? 1,25,000/- is paid under the Life Cover Scheme
4. In addition to compensation under the Employee’s Compensation Act,1923 an additional amount of 90,000 is paid in case of death or permanent total disablement
5. Upto ? 20 Lakhs as per the Payment of Gratuity (Amendment) Act, 2018
6. All employees are covered under the Coal Mines Provident Fund (CMPF) scheme with equal shares of the employee and the company. The accumulated amount is paid.
7. Payment of leave encashment and any other dues.
8. Pension as per Coal Mines Pension Scheme, 1998.
9. Compassionate Employment to the dependent of the deceased employee.
10. Monthly Monetary Compensation in lieu of employment to female dependent. The above is revised with every Wage Revision. Presently, the Monthly Monetary Compensation is paid at 26,292.97 per month.
B- Relief/compensation to the families of Contractors’ workers who suffered accidents or die due to mine accident: -
1. Compensation under the Employee’s Compensation Act, 1923.
2. An amount of ? 15 lakh is paid to the next of kin of the contractors’ worker in case of fatal mine accident
3. Nominee of deceased contractors’ workers are eligible for payment of accumulated amount under EPF/CMPF.
