Question : Ongoing Schemes under Ganga Rejuvenation Programme

(a) the number of schemes being run by the Government under Ganga Rejuvenation Programme in Uttarakhand and the expenditure incurred thereon so far including the time by which these are likely to be completed, Scheme-wise;

(b) the names of agencies which are implementing these schemes;

(c) whether the participation of Uttarakhand is also involved in the implementation of these schemes, if so, the details thereof; and

(d) whether an effective monitoring mechanism has been set up by the Government for timely and qualitative implementation of the schemes, if so, the details thereof?

(a) The number of projects Launched under National River Conservation Directorate (NRCD)/National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) in Uttarakhand are 26 out of which 21 are ongoing and 5 have been completed. Funds sanctioned and released in the state of Uttarakhand since 2012-13 till date is Rs. 382.76 Crore and Rs 96.62 Crore respectively.

(b) & (c) Schemes in Uttrakhand are implemented by ‘Uttarakhand Pey Jal Nigam for waste water projects’ and ‘Water and Power Consultancy Services Limited’ (WAPCOS) for the Ghat development projects.

(d) Regular monitoring of the projects is being done by the SPMG in the State and by NMCG at Centre. Empowered Steering Committee also review the progress of approved projects.
