(a) whether any proposal to set up regional cultural centres in Uttarakhand and Maharashtra is lying pending with the Government;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) the time by which these proposals are likely to be cleared ; and

(a) No, Sir. The Government of India has already set up seven Zonal Cultural Centres in different parts of the country to extend support to folk and traditional artistes and artisans of the country. Uttarakhand is the member State of North Central Zone Cultural Centre(NCZCC), Allahabad and North Zone Cultural Centre(NZCC), Patiala. A Zonal Cultural Centre namely South Central Zone Cultural Centre has already been set up in Maharashtra with its headquarters at Nagpur.
