Question : LAND ACQUISITION ON NH -52 B



(a) whether any instance regarding non-payment of compensation against land acquisition of the displaced households as provided in National Highway Act, 1956 has come to the notice of the Government, if so, the details thereof;

(b) whether the out-dated National Highway Act, 1894 was considered instead of the amended National Highway Act, 1956 in respect of planning and construction of National Highway-52(B);

(c) if so, the details thereof; and

(d) the steps taken by the Government in this regard?

(a) As far as the National Highways are concerned, acquisition of land and payment of compensation is mainly in accordance with the National Highways Act, 1956. Instances of delayed/inadequate payment etc. come to notice from time to time and are dealt as per provisions under the Act.

(b) to (d) Do not arise as there is no such National Highways Act, 1894.
