(a) whether the IITs and IIMs in India are governed under the Ministry of
Human Resource Development (HRD) and the administration, duties,
recruitment and promotion policies in these institutions are regulated
under any law;
(b) if so, the details thereof; and
(c) if not, whether the Government has any plan to do it?

(a) : Yes, Sir.
(b) & (c): IITs and IIMs are Institutions of National Importance under the
Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD). IITs are governed by the
Institutes of Technology Act, 1961, as amended from time to time and function
as per the Act, and the Statutes framed thereunder. Similarly, IIMs are
governed by the provisions as contained in the Indian Institutes of Management
(IIM) Act, 2017, which came into effect from 31.01.2018.
