Question : Allocation of Funds for Ayush

Will the Minister of AYURVEDA, YOGA AND NATUROPATHY, UNANI, SIDDHA AND HOMOEOPATHY (AYUSH) be pleased to state:

(a) whether the Government has allocated funds for Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy (Ayush) to Kerala during the last three years.

(b) if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor;

(c) whether the Government has sanctionedadditional funds for the infrastructure development of Kurichi Homeopathic Hospital at Changanassary, Kerala;

(d) if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor;

(e) whether the Government has allocated funds under AYUSH for research studies to aid/facilitate preventive medicine against Covid-19; and

(f) if so, the details thereof and the steps taken by the Government in this regard?

(a) & (b): Yes, under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme of National AYUSH Mission (NAM), the Ministry of AYUSH has allocated/released funds to the state of Kerala during the last three years as under:-

2018-19 2597.838 lakhs
2019-20 1540.535 lakhs

(c) & (d): Under NAM, Rs.75.00 Lakhs has been sanctioned to Kurichi Homoeopathic Hospital at Changanassary, Kerala during 2018-19 for undertaking construction, renovation of existing premises; furniture fixtures, equipments, etc.

(e) & (f): The Government has not allocated any separate funds for research studies to aid/facilitate preventive medicine against Covid-19. However, with respect to COVID-19 pandemic, Ministry of AYUSH and Department of Bio-Technology (DBT) have signed a joint project to evaluate anti-viral and immuno-modulatory activity of AYUSH herbs and formulations. The total project cost of Rs. 592.56 lakhs is approved, out of which National Medicinal Plants Board (NMPB) and DBT will contribute 50% each.
