Question : SEPARATE QUOTA OF KEROSENE



(a) whether the Government proposes to allocate a separate quota of kerosene to the fishing sector in the country including Kerala;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether the Union Government has received any proposal from the State Government of Kerala regarding the aforesaid matter; and

(d) if so, the details thereof and the response of the Government thereto?

(a): No, Madam.

(b): Does not arise.

(c) & (d): A request dated 05.01.2013 of Chief Minister of Kerala was received in this Ministry for providing quantity of Kerosene for the fishermen of the Kerala. The State Government of Kerala was informed about the Government of India’s order dated 21.8.2012 enabling all States/Union Territories (UTs) to draw an allocation of one month’s quota of PDS Kerosene at non-subsidized rates (inclusive of excise/custom duty/taxes and excluding under recovery/fiscal subsidy) during each financial year for special needs such as natural calamities, religious functions, fisheries, various ‘yatras’, ‘melas’ etc.
