Question : Solar Energy Based Dual Pump Piped Water Supply Scheme

(a) whether the Ministry with theassistance of National Clean Energy Fundis implementing a Solar Power Based DualPump Water Supply Scheme and if so, thedetails thereof;
(b) the name of the States where SolarEnergy Based Dual Pump Piped WaterSupply Scheme has been implemented inthe country;
(c) the details of the financialassistance provided to States under the saidScheme by the Government during the lastthree years and the current status of theScheme, year-wise and State-wise;
(d) the challenges faced by theGovernment to overcome the difficultiesin the implementation of the Scheme; and
(e) whether the State Governmentshave not shown enough interest in theinstallation of solar energy based pumpsdue to their inefficiency and if so, thedetails thereof and the steps proposed tobe taken by the Government to make thescheme successful?

(a)& (b)Yes Madam.Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation with the assistance of National Clean Energy Fund (NCEF) and National Rural Drinking Water Programme (NRDWP) funds has provided financial assistance to 10 States namely Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal and Maharashtra during 2012-13 to 2014-15 for installation of 11,068 Solar Energy based dual pumps in these States.

(c) The details of financial assistance provided to States under National Clean Energy Funded scheme and the current status is at Annexure.
(d) Initially there were some technical issues reported by States regarding framing of specification, Capability of bidders and tendering process etc. However, these challenges were overcome by the States with the passage of time.
(e) No Madam. All State Governments had shown interest in the scheme.
