Question : REVAMPING FOREIGN POLICY



(a) whether India proposes to revamp its foreign as well as trade policies to strengthen relations with various foreign countries and neighbouring countries in particular;

(b) if so, the modalities being worked out in this regard;

(c) whether any action has been formulated to eliminate negative list from both these policies; and

(d) if so, the details thereof and the time by when the policies are likely to be renewed?

(a) to (d) The foreign policy being pursued by the present government aims to serve country’s national interest. The new Government has taken a number of initiatives in the area of foreign policy to strengthen relations with other countries, in particular neighbouring countries.

India’s trade policy is structured to strengthen and deepen trade relations with various foreign countries and neighbouring countries in particular. The policy, including on barriers to trade is reviewed on a continuous basis.
