(a) whether the Government has any scheme to encourage fisheries in the reservoirs of various States including Jharkhand;

(b) if so, the details thereof, State-wise; and

(c) the number of reservoirs identified under this scheme in the country including Jharkhand?

(a) to (c): The Government administers a Centrally Sponsored Scheme “Development of Inland Fisheries & Aquaculture’, which interalia, provides assistance for development of fisheries in the reservoirs. All the States and UTs are eligible for seeking assistance under this Scheme. Besides, the Government has launched National Mission for Protein Supplements (NMPS) during 2011-12. Under NMPS funds are allocated to State/UTs specifically for development of reservoirs for fisheries. During 2011-12 and 2012-13 a sum of ` 60 crore & ` 130.26 crore respectively has been earmarked under NMPS for development of fisheries in the reservoirs. Government of Jharkhand has been allocated ` 6.68 crore during 2011-12 and ` 3.34 crore during 2012-13 under the NMPS for the development of fisheries in the reservoirs. In addition, the National Fisheries Development Board has released a sum of ` 4.46 crore during XI Plan to the Govt. of Jharkhand for Reservoir Fisheries Development. The reservoirs are identified by the respective State Governments and this data is not compiled centrally.
