MINISTER OF LAW AND JUSTICE (SHRI H.R. BHARDWAJ)
(a) to (c): The Government is considering the issue of bringing in a Bill
in Parliament providing for reservation of seats for women in Lok Sabha
and the State Legislative Assemblies as early as possible. With the
objective of arriving at a consensus on the various provisions of the
proposed Bill, consultations were held with the leaders of all major political
parties. However, no consensus could be arrived at till now. The Government
proposes to introduce the Bill in Parliament after a consensus is arrived at
amongst the political parties on the provisions of proposed Bill so that it
could be considered and passed unanimously.
