Question : INDIRA AWAAS YOJANA



(a) the number of houses constructed and allotted under Indira Awaas Yojana (IAY) during the last three years and the current year, State/UT and year-wise and category-wise;

(b) whether the Government has achieved the targets set under IAY during the 11th Five Year Plan and if so, the details thereof and targets set for 12th Five Year Plan and achieved till date, State/UT-wise;

(c) the details of funds allocated, released and spent under the scheme during the above period, State/UT-wise;

(d) whether the cases of irregularities have come to the notice of the Government under the scheme and if so, the details thereof during the above period, State/UT-wise and action taken in such cases; and

(e) the steps taken by the Government to make the scheme more inclusive and extend the benefit to more and more poor peopleā€

(a) A statement indicating the State/UT wise number of houses constructed and allotted under Indira Awaas Yojana (IAY) during the last three years and current year is given in the annexure I.

(b) A statement indicating State/UT wise target and achievement under IAY during the Eleventh and Twelfth Five Year Plan is given at annexure II (a & b).

(c) A statement indicating State/UT wise funds allocated and released during the last three years and current year is given in annexure III.

(d) The details of complaints of irregularities received under the Scheme during the last three years and current year are given at Annexure IV. These complaints were forwarded to the implementing agencies i.e. State Government concerned, for taking necessary action as per Indira Awaas Yojana guidelines with advisory to the State to inform the complainant on the action taken.

(e) In order to make it more inclusive and to extend the benefit to more poor people, the liberated Manual Scavengers and freed bonded labourers have been made eligible to avail benefit under IAY as a priority category, irrespective of the BPL criteria.
