Question : Revival of Handloom and Handicraft Sector


(a) whether the Government has taken steps to preserve and revive the handloom/handicraft sector under Public Private Partnership mode and if so, the details thereof;

(b) whether the Government proposes to open any Handicraft Academy, and if so, the location thereof and the investment proposed for setting up of the Academy;

(c) the expected time frame by which the said Academy is likely to be made operational and the details of handicrafts likely to be taught in the Academy;

(d) the names of beneficiary organizations of Ambedkar Hastshilp Vikas Yojana (AHVY) during each of the last three years and the current year, State-wise;

(e) the State-wise list of completed discontinued and ongoing projects under AHVY; and

(f) the State-wise and project-wise details of the total funds sanctioned and utilized in respect of all completed, ongoing and discontinued projects under AHVY during the said period?

(a) to (c): There is a proposal to set up a Hastkala Academy at New Delhi with a provision of Rs.30.00 crores to preserve and revive the handloom/handicrafts sector. Proposal will be implemented after approval.

(d) to (f): The name of beneficiary organization of AHVY during each of the last three years and current years and details of funds sanctioned and utilized in respect of all completed, ongoing and discontinued project, State-wise is as per Annexure.
