Question : GAIL PIPELINE PROJECT IN KRISHNA, GODAVARI AND CAUVERY



(a) whether the Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL) has expanded the pipeline network projects in the Krishna, Godavari and Cauvery basins;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether GAIL has also presented a proposal to Andhra Pradesh Government for setting up an import terminal at Kakinada; and

(d) if so, the details thereof?

(a) & (b) Yes, Sir. In K.G. Basin, Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL) has completed two pipeline projects of 16.3 km length at a cost of Rs..12.7 crore for transportation of natural gas. In addition, GAIL is executing five such projects of around 131 km length at an estimated cost of Rs.107.40 crore in K.G. Basin and four projects of around 33 km length at an estimated cost of Rs.13.62 crore in Cauvery Basin.

(c) & (d) Yes, Sir. GAIL has presented a preliminary proposal to the Govt. of Andhra Pradesh for setting up a Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) terminal in the Kakinada Port area with the facilities of receipt and regassification of 2.5 to 3.0 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) of LNG at an estimated cost of US$500 million.
