(a) The Ministry of Health & Family Welfare is taking following steps to provide early registration, medical and other benefits to pregnant women:
(i) Tracking of eligible couple under RCH portal for early registration of pregnancy.
(ii) Name Based Web enabled Tracking of Pregnant Women to ensure antenatal, intranatal and postnatal care.
(iii) Village Health, Sanitation and Nutrition Days in rural areas as an outreach activity, for provision of maternal and child health services.
(iv) Promotion of institutional deliveries and early registration of pregnancy through Janani Suraksha Yojana (JSY).
Apart from this, the Ministry of Women and Child Development is implementing the Centrally Sponsored Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) with effect from 01.01.2017. Under PMMVY, cash incentive of ?5,000/- is provided in three installments to eligible Pregnant Women and Lactating Mothers (PW&LM) during the period of pregnancy and lactation for the first living child to improve health seeking behaviour amongst them. The first installment of ?1,000/- is provided to the eligible beneficiary for early registration of the pregnancy. At least one Ante-Natal Check-up (ANC) is necessary to avail second installment of ?2,000/-. The third installment of ?2,000/- is provided to the eligible beneficiaries on the registration of the birth of the child and completion of first cycle of BCG, OPV and Hepatitis-B or its equivalent/substitute. Further, under Janani Suraksha Yojana (JSY), the pregnant woman is provided facility of institutional delivery as well as monetary benefit.
(b) The PMMVY is reviewed periodically through Video Conferences with States/UTs and thorugh National and Regional level workshops. As outcome of the reviews, the uptake of the scheme has increased and more beneficiaries are brought under the ambit of the scheme.
(c) The State/UT-wise details of funds released under PMMVY during the year 2018-19 are Annexed.
(d) The funds released under PMMVY are spent by the State Governments/UT Administrations as per the guidelines of the scheme.
