Question : Renovation of Historical Buildings

(a) whether any survey of historically important buildings including monuments/forts has been conducted and if so, the details thereof, State/UT-wise, particularly in Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and Bhagalpur district of Bihar;

(b) whether most of these buildings/forts/monuments are in dilapidated condition and are in urgent need of repairs and further maintenance;

(c) if so, the details of such Building/ forts/ monuments in the country, State/UT-wise and the list of buildings repaired in Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and Bihar during the last three years, year-wise, district-wise and location-wise along with the funds allocated and spent thereon;

(d) whether the Archaeological Survey of India proposes to take over these forts/buildings/heritage sites and ensure proper upkeep and maintenance thereof; and

(e) if so, the details thereof along with the steps taken for the proper maintenance of ancient monuments, particularly in Delhi?

(a) Conducting survey/exploration to identify/located ancient sites/ monuments/ building or fort is a regular phenomenon of Archaeological Survey of India. Details of potential monuments/site identified for declaring them as Centrally protected Monuments/sites is at Annexure.

(b) No sir, the conservation work of centrally protected monuments in the country, including Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and Bihar, is attended regularly by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) according to the need and as per the availability of funds and resources, and they are in a good state of preservation.

(c)to(e) There are 743 centrally protected monuments/sites in Uttar Pradesh, 173 in Delhi and 70 in Bihar. The conservation work of protected monuments/sites is continuous process and it is attended regularly on need basis as per the availability of funds and resources. The details of funds allocated and expenditure incurred for conservation and preservation of protected monuments in these States are as follows:
