Question : Funds Allocation under PM-KUSUM

(a) the quantum of funds allocated by the Government under Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthan Mahabhiyan (PM-KUSUM) Scheme to the State of Tamil Nadu during the last three years and the current year alongwith the funds utilisation;
(b) the number of off-grid solar pumps installed in the country, State-wise including in Tamilnadu, district-wise;
(c) whether the Government has been able to achieve the targets under the said scheme in a time bound manner;
(d) if so, the details thereof; and
(e) the steps taken by the Government to achieve the targets under PM-KUSUM?

(a) The PM-KUSUM Scheme was launched in March 2019. Based on the progress reported by the state of Tamil Nadu under the three components of PM-KUSUM Scheme, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has released Rs. 12.85 Crore to the Agriculture Engineering Department, Government of Tamil Nadu for installation of standalone solar pumps under Component-B of the Scheme of which Rs. 8.82 Crore has been reported utilised till 30.11.2021.

(b) State-wise details of off-grid solar pumps installed under Component-B of PM-KUSUM Scheme is placed at Annexure-I and district-wise details of pumps installed in the State of Tamil Nadu are placed at Annexure-II.

(c) to (e)The PM-KUSUM Scheme is available for sanction till 2022 and the progress under the three components of the Scheme reported till 30.11.2021 is given below:

(i) Component-A: Solar power plants of total 4909 MW capacity have been sanctioned and plants of 20 MW capacity have been installed.
(ii) Component-B: A total of 3.59 lakh stand-alone solar pumps sanctioned of which 75,098 pumps have been installed.
(iii) Component-C: Sanction issued for solarization of 10.02 lakh existing grid connected agricultural pumps of which 1026 pumps have been solarized.

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has taken several steps to achieve the targets under the Scheme. These inter-alia include regular monitoring of the Scheme, issue of clarifications and amendments to the scheme guidelines based on lessons learnt during implementation, organising workshops, inclusion of all the three components under priority sector lending, etc.
