(a) whether the Government has any plan to introduce the 5G technology in India;
(b) if so, the details thereof including the details of the benefit therefrom;
(c) the details of the benefited people and region of India in the first two years;
(d) whether any time frame has been fixed for the launch of this technology and if so, the details thereof; and
(e) whether it will be launched across the country or only in some major cities first and if so, the details thereof?

(a) to (e) Launch of 5G mobile service is likely during 2022-23 by Telecom Service Providers. The 5G services are expected to be introduced gradually and advance to a full range of services as ecosystem and demand for services grows.
The Department of Telecommunications vide notification dated 15th June, 2022 has already initiated the process of Auction of Spectrum of 600 MHz, 700 MHz, 800 MHz, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz, 2100 MHz, 2300 MHz, 2500 MHz, 3300 MHz, and 26 GHz Bands which includes the Spectrum required for launch of 5G Services.
The 5G technology offers enhanced mobile broadband, ultra-reliable low latency and massive machine-type communication, enabling various innovative applications including education.
