(a) whether the Railways has prepared a plan to set up a railway factory on the land of closed factory at Dehri-Dalmia Nagar;
(b) if so, the details and the present status thereof;
(c) whether all the formalities for setting up of the said factory have been completed and if so, the details thereof;
(d) whether the Government proposes to expedite the setting up of the said factory so as to provide livelihood to people of that area; and
(e) if so, the details thereof?

STATEMENT REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO PARTS (a) TO (e) OF STARRED QUESTION NO. 246 BY SHRI MAHABALI SINGH TO BE ANSWERED IN LOK SABHA ON 10.07.2019 REGARDING SETTING UP OF RAILWAY FACTORY
(a) Yes, Sir. Indian Railways is setting up a Railway factory, Wagon Periodical Overhauling (POH) Workshop, at Dalmia Nagar on the land purchased from erstwhile Rohtas Industries.
(b) The work for setting up of the Wagon Periodical Overhauling (POH) workshop has been sanctioned and execution has started. The land has old machines and structures which need to be dismantled and removed as scrap. Work on dismantling and scrap removal has been started.
(c) Yes, Sir. Land is under possession of Indian Railways. A work for setting up of the workshop has been sanctioned and entrusted to RITES for execution. RITES has awarded the contract for dismantling and work execution has started. Tender for construction shall be opened on 26.07.2019. Work will be completed in 24 months after award of contract.
(d) The work of setting up of the Wagon Periodical Overhauling (POH) workshop is already under execution.
(e) M/s RITES Ltd. have been entrusted the execution of the work on Turnkey basis. Both the dismantling/ disposal of existing structure and setting up of new workshop have been processed simultaneously to expedite the execution of the project.
