Question : Committee on 5G Technology

(a) whether it is true that a committee under Principal Scientific Advisor (PSA) has been constituted to give recommendations relating to 5G and technology trials in the country and if so, the details thereof;

(b) whether the Government has set any timeline for the said committee to give its recommendations;

(c) if so, the time by which the committee is likely to submit its recommendations to the Government;

(d) whether the Government has taken note of the security concerns including surveillance over 5G technology trials; and

(e) if so, the details thereof and the reaction of the Government thereto?

(a) to (e) A Sub-committee on 5G and technology trials having representatives from relevant Departments/Ministries has been constituted under the Chairmanship of Principal Scientific Advisor to give recommendations on various issues, including security, relating to 5G and technology trials in India. The Government has not set any timeline for the committee to submit its recommendations.
