Question : OUTSTANDING DUES UNDER NREGS



(a) the details of outstanding dues under National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS) since its inception alongwith the reasons therefor and action taken thereon;

(b) the benefits provided to Scheduled Castes (SCs), Scheduled Tribes (STs) and Below Poverty Line (BPL) house holders etc. during each of last three years and current year under NREGS, State-wise;

(c) whether the Government proposes to create a separate fund under NREGS to implement the same in drought area of the country;

(d) if so, the details thereof; and

(e) the steps taken by the Government in this regard?

(a): NREGA is demand based. Central Government releases funds to the States for implementation of the Act based on the labour demand. There are no outstanding dues in this regard.

(b): NREGA is uniformly applicable to all rural households. As the Act is self targeting, separate data for beneficiaries belonging to BPL category is not maintained.However, number of persondays of employment generated for SC and ST beneficiaries is given in the Annexure.
