(a) whether the Government has issued any instruction to all the States to introduce Global Positioning System (GPS) in all the motor vehicle;
(b) if so, the details thereof; and
(c) the steps taken by the Government to ensure GPS in public vehicles and the reasons for non-functioning of the GPS system in public vehicles?

(a) to (c) Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has issued notification G.S.R 1095(E) dated 28.11.2016 mandating the provision of a vehicle location tracking device and one or more emergency buttons with effect from 1st April, 2018 in public service vehicles except two-wheelers, E-rickshaw, three wheelers and any transport vehicles for which permit is not required under the Motor Vehicle Act, 1988.
