Question : WELFARE OF PLANTATION WORKERS



(a) the provisions made to ensure the welfare of Plantation labour/workers under the Central Wage Board (CWB);

(b) whether CWB has revised its policies/decisions from time to time;

(c) whether wages are also not revised to meet the requirement of the changing needs of the labourers in the country;

(d) if so, the reasons therefor; and

(e) the measures taken by the Government in this regard?

(a) Plantation labourers/workers are not covered under the Wage Board constituted by the Ministry of Labour & Employment. Government of India had constituted only one Wage Board for the Tea Plantation Workers in the year 1960. After that no Wage Board has been constituted for the Plantation Workers.

(b) to (e) Question does not arise.
