Question : QUESTION DEVELOPMENT OF NER

(a) whether the Government has undertaken various works under various schemes for the development of the North-Eastern Region (NER);

(b) if so, the details of the nature of works executed thereunder during the last one year and the current year;

(c) the names of the schemes and funds sanctioned for construction of roads in Assam and other parts of the NER along with the funds sanctioned to NGOs and authorised agents for the development of the region during the above period;

(d) whether the Government has also sanctioned funds from the Non-Lapsable Central Pool of Resources (NLCPR) for providing relief for flood damages in Assam; and

(e) if so, the details thereof?

The Minister of State (Independent Charge) in the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (Shri Paban Singh Ghatowar)

(a) to (c) Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region sanctions projects for infrastructure development of various sectors under Non-Lapsable Central Pool of Resources (NLCPR) Scheme and Special BTC Package for development of North East Region (NER). All such sanctioned projects are implemented and executed by State Governments in North East Region, including Sikkim. Name and cost of roads and bridges sector projects sanctioned during 2011-12 and current year in North East Region under NLCPR Scheme and Special BTC Package is given at Annexure I and II respectively. Similarly, projects sanctioned and funds released during 2011-12 and current year from Social and Infrastructure Development Fund (SIDF) is given at Annexure III. Details of projects sanctioned and funds released by North Eastern Council, Shillong are given at Annexures IV, V and VI. These Annexures have been put on the website of the Ministry i.e. www.mdoner.gov.in.

(d) No, Sir. No funds from NLCPR have been sanctioned for providing relief for flood damages in Assam.
