Question : RESTRICTIVE TRADE PRACTICE IN CP ACT 1986



(a) whether the Government propose to enlarge the present scope of restrictive trade practices in the Consumer Protection Act, 1986;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether the Government propose to widen the definition of trade practices; and

(d) if so, the details thereof ?

(a) to (d): The proposals under consideration for amendment to the Consumer Protection Act, 1986 include enlargement of the definition of `Restrictive/Unfair Trade Practices` to bring within the definition trade practices which tend to bring about manipulation of prices or conditions of delivery or to affect flow of goods and services resulting in unjustified costs or restrictions.
