(a) whether the Government are aware that MNCs are making inroads into the small scale and cottage industries such as pickle, coir, etc.; and

(b) the steps taken/proposed to be taken to protect the interests of indigenous industries?

(a) & (b): Government have occasionally received information of violation of reservation policy by some Multinational Companies (MNCs) and also of attempts to make inroads in other cottage industries. Action against the violators of the reservation policy is initiated as per the provisions of the Industries (Development & Regulation ) Act, 1951. In addition, Government have put in place a series of measures to strengthen the small scale and cottage industries and enhance their competitiveness, both domestically and globally. These include inter alia, easier access to credit, marketing support, improved infrastructure and support for technological upgradation.
