(a) whether the Government has received any proposals for giving coal blocks to fertilizer Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) in the country, if so, the details thereof;
(b) whether the Government is considering for listing fertilizer sector in the priority list for coal block allocation; and
(c) if so, the details thereof and if not, the action taken by the Government on the States’ proposals?

(a) to (c): Proposals have been received in the Ministry of Coal for giving coal blocks to fertilizer Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) in the country.
Production of syn-gas obtained through coal gasification (underground and surface) and coal liquefaction were included as end uses as per the powers conferred by item (4) of sub-clause
(iii) of clause (a) of Sub Section (3) of Section 3 of the Coal Mines (Nationalisation) Act, 1973.
In addition, Captive Power is already a specified end use under the provisions of Coal Mines (Special Provisions) Act, 2015. Fertilizer Public Sector Undertakings may apply for the coal mines accordingly.
