Question : RE-CONSTRUCTION OF CHAMARI NALA BRIDGE



(a) the target fixed for the construction of National Highways during the Ninth Five Year Plan;

(b) the provision made for the purpose;

(a) whether Chamari Nala Bridge located between Jhansi and Kanpur at National Highway No.25 is in a dilapidated condition;

(b) if so, whether the Government propose to re-construct the said bridge; and

(c) if not, the reason therefor?

(a) : Details are given at Annex-I.

(b) : An amount of Rs. 8862.02 crore (at 1996 price level) has been made available during Ninth Five Year Plan by Planning Commission. In addition to this, amount out of cess on petrol & diesel will also be available.

(c) & (d) : This Ministry has sanctioned estimate for Rs. 323.80 lakhs on 31.3.99 for the re-construction of bridge over Chamari Nala in km. 222 of Shivpuri-Bhognipur section of NH No. 25 in Uttar Pradesh.

(e) Does not arise.
