Question : TOURISM ACT



(a) whether the Government is considering to enact a legislation to control and regulate the vital segments of Tourism Industry with a view to provide hassle free services to foreign and Indian Tourists and to address environmental concerns,atleast for the Union Territories,so that such Tourism Act may serve as a role model for all the States of the Union;

(b) if so, the details thereof;and

(c) the time by which legislation is likely to be enacted?

(a) to (c): Development and promotion of tourism is primarily undertaken by the State Governments/Union Territory Administrations.However,Ministry of Tourism regularly advises and issues guidelines to them for better facilitation of tourists to improve the overall quality of tourists’ experience.
