Question : SAMARJAN RAILWAY BRIDGE



(a) whether the Government are aware that the Samarjan Railway Bridge, District Dhemaji, Assam has been washed away in flood;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) the time by which the reconstruction work of Samarjan Railway Bridge is likely to be completed; and

(d) the expenditure likely to be incurred thereon?

MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF RAILWAYS (SHRI BANDARU DATTATRAYA)

(a) to (d): No Railway bridge at Samarjan area was washed away. However, approach embankment of Pile Bridge (Bridge No. 347-C) between stations Gogamukh and Dhemaji was washed away during the floods in 2002. Restoration of approach embankment has been completed with an expenditure of approximately Rs.23.50 lacs.
