Question : APPROVAL OF GREENFIELD PROJECT BY CIL



(a) whether the Coal India Ltd. has approved six large greenfield projects for future for off take of power-grade coal by SEB`s and NTPC;

(b) if so, the details of the projects cleared so far;

(c) whether these projects will be allotted to private sector;

(d) if so, the details thereof; and

(e) if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) & (b): Yes, Sir. CIL Board has approved the following new large projects (costing Rs.100 crores and above) which are now in different stages of approval by the Government. These projects are proposed to meet the coal demand of power projects being promoted by NTPC, M/s. HINDALCO and of Hirma STPS being promoted by M/s Reliance Power and Power Trading Corporation of India Ltd. Details of these projects are given below:-
