Question : Funds Allocation Under JJM

(a) the details of allocation and utilisation of funds under Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) during the last three years, state-wise;
(b) the details of the budget allocation proposed for the financial year 2021-22 and the details of the funds released and utilised in 2020-21, State-wise;
(c) whether the Government is considering to provide water supply facilities in institutions like Anganwadi Centers, schools and hospitals under the JJM; and
(d) if so, the steps taken in this regard in recent years?

(a) & (b) Government of India, in partnership with States, is implementing Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) - Har Ghar Jal, since August, 2019, to enable every rural household in the country to have potable water in adequate quantity of prescribed quality, on regular and long-term basis through tap water connection by 2024, with an estimated outlay of Rs. 3.60 lakh Crore.
State/ UT-wise details, of fund allocated, released and reported utilization, under Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) in 2019-20, 2020-21 & 2021-22 as on 19.07.2021 is annexed.
(c) & (d) Under JJM, on the principle of ‘no one is left out’ and universal coverage apart from every rural household, provisions have been made for providing tap water supply to all public institutions in the village i.e. schools, anganwadi centres, PHCs/CHCs, wellness centres, Gram Panchayat building, community centres, etc.
With focus on children’s health and well-being, a special campaign was launched on 2nd October, 2020 for making provision of tap water supply in schools, anganwadi centres, ashramshalas (tribal residential schools) for purposes of drinking, cookingmid-day meals, hand washing and use in toilets. So far, more than 6.81 lakh schools and 6.77 lakh anganwadi centres have been provided tap water supply.
