Question : CRPF Mahila Battalion

(a) the number of Central Reserved Police Force (CRPF) Mahila battalion deployed in various parts of the country;

(b) whether the Government is considering to create more Mahila battalions and if so, the details thereof;

(c) the achievements made by CRPF Mahila battalion since its inception;

(d) the number of welfare schemes being run by the Government for the welfare of CRPF Mahila battalion along with the quantum of funds allocated for this purpose;

(e) whether CRPF has any proposal to conduct recruitment drive across the country for recruitment to various posts in CRPF Mahila battalions;

(f) if so, the details thereof and the time by which such recruitment drive is likely to be conducted; and

(g) whether the Government has taken initiative to recruit more and more women
in CRPF and if so, the steps taken by the Government in this regard?

(a): There are 6 (six) Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Mahila battalions. The Mahila battalions are made available / deployed on the request of the State Government(s), to assist them in maintaining Law and Order. The level of

deployment of CRPF Mahila battalion in any State is dynamic and undergoes changes depending upon the security situation.

(b): There is no proposal under consideration to create more Mahila battalions of CRPF at present.

(c): Mahila contingents of CRPF are successfully performing Internal Security duties in various parts of the country and abroad. 05 Mahila personnel of CRPF contingents have been decorated with gallantry medals for their brave actions as under :-

(d): A scheme i.e. Creche-Facilities for the exclusive benefit of women personnel is functioning in CRPF. “Creche” facilities are available in 49 static locations of CRPF and funds to the tune of Rs. 55 lakh for the current financial year have been allotted to CRPF, for the purpose.

(e) to (g): Recruitment of personnel including Mahila personnel in the Forces is a continuous process. Government has taken necessary steps to recruit 1594 numbers of Constable/General Duty (Mahila) through the Staff Selection Commission.
