(a)&(b): At present, only a Pilot Project on the issue of Multipurpose National Identity Cards (MNIC) at an estimated cost of 18 crores is being undertaken by the Government in a few selected sub-districts of various districts of 13 States and Union Territories. The entire expenditure for undertaking this Project would be provided to the State Governments and Union Territories concerned by the Government of India.
