Question : Sanitation Workers

(a) whether it is a fact that sanitation workers in most of the villages in all the districts in Uttar Pradesh do not report for duty and even if they do, their work remains confined to school premises and Pradhan’s office due to which state of cleanliness is very poor in villages;
(b) if so, the details of the action taken by the Government in cooperation with the State Government in this regard;
(c) the number of sanitation workers deployed at the residences of the officers, district-wise; and
(d) the time by which they are likely to be sent back to the villages at their original posting and the time-limit set in this regard?

(a) to (d) As per the reports received from Government of Uttar Pradesh, the sanitation workers work according to their job chart in the whole village. However, due to the shortage of office-staff in District Panchayat Raj Officers’ offices, some sanitation workers have been attached to assist in the preparation of their own salaries, allowances etc. They will be sent back to their original posting after the expiration of the work for which they have been attached.
