Question : FENCING OF INTERNATIONAL BORDER IN JAMMU AND KASHMIR



(a) whether the Border Security Force engaged in the work of fencing along international border in Jammu & Kashmir have asked for supply of special bulldozers;

(b) if so, whether in the face of continuous Pakistani firing from across the border special types of bulldozers are necessary for carrying out digging, levelling and buildings of bunds;

(c) if so, the details in this regard; and

(d) the length of border where fencing has been erected and the length where it is still to be erected?

(a) to (d): The Border Security Force are making use of excavators and bulldozers of the required specification for digging and levelling the broken ground for erection of border fencing and construction of protective bund. The excavators and bulldozers are being bullet proofed in order to shield the workers from the unprovoked and continuous Pakistani fire aimed at disrupting the work.

30 Kms of fencing has been completed so far, out of a total length of 180 Kms of the International Border in the Jammu sector which is to be fenced.
