Question : PRODUCTION OF PETROL, DIESEL, KEROSENE FROM CRUDE OIL



(a) the proportion of Petrol, Diesel, Kerosene, Naphtha extracted from 1 MT crude oil;

(b) whether any other product is extracted from crude oil;

(c) the total production of Petrol, Diesel, Kerosene and Naphtha in our country;

(d) the total consumption of these products, product-wise;

(e) the total profit of oil companies from these products;

(f) whether the Government propose to ensure not to increase the prices of these products; and

(g) if so, the details thereof ?

(a) The proportion of Petrol, Diesel, Kerosene and Naphtha extracted from 1 MT crude oil during year 2003-04 was as under :

Petrol (MS)- 9.5% Diesel (HSD)- 36.3% Kerosene (SKO)- 8.4% Naphtha- 9.3%


(b) Other major products produced from crude oil include Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG), Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF), Light Diesel Oil (LDO), Lube Oil, Low Sulphur Heavey Stocks (LSHS), Bitumen, Petroleum Coke, etc.

(c) The total production of Petrol, Diesel, Kerosene and Naphtha in the country during 2003-04 from crude oil refineries was as under :

(e) The overall profit or loss of the oil companies is reflected in the Quarterly/Yearly financial results of the oil companies.

(f) & (g) : No, Sir. However, Government can not give such an assurance but the burden on consumers will be kept under constant view.
