Question : Anti-Malarial Insecticides

Will the Minister of HEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE be pleased to state:

(a) whether as per norms by NVBDCP, the States are required to procure the requisite larvicides/adulticides for vector control, if so, the details thereof and list of States/UTs those have procured the same;

(b) the quantity of larvicides/adulticides procured to each State/UT including Delhi; and

(c) the details of the funds allocated by the Centre to the States during 2016 for vector management and details of the utilization of these funds by the States?

(a): Yes. As per NVBDCP guidelines the following larvicides/adulticides are procured by all States/UTs except DDT 50% water dispersible powder (wdp) and Synthetic Pyrethroid for vector control:

1. Temephos - larvicide
2. Bacillus thuringiensis israelensis (BTi) wetteble poder/ Aquous suspension - larvicide
3. Insect Growth Regulators- Diflubenzuron and Pyreproxiphen
4. Pyrethrum Extract 2% for indoor space spray
5. Malathion Technical for fogging
6. Cyphenothrin for fogging

(b) A total of 4223 MT of DDT and 845 MT of Synthetic pyrethroid have been procured & supplied to States/UTs during 2016 as per Annexure-I. Larvicides are procured by States/UTs including Delhi based on technical requirement.

(c) A statement indicating the details of funds allocated and released as on 25/11/2016 for prevention and control activities of Vector Borne Diseases in the States/UTs is at Annexure-II.
