(a) : After the dismantling of the Administered Price Mechanism from 1.4.2002, Public Sector Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) have been accorded commercial freedom for their marketing activities. Accordingly, OMCs conduct surveys to asses the potential / commercial viability of locations for setting up of new LPG distributorships and Retail Outlets (ROs) in the country including Maharashtra, at regular intervals. The viable locations are considered for the setting up of LPG distributorships / ROs as per their commercial consideration. While conducting these surveys, OMCs keep in mind the representations received from various State bodies / public representatives and other sources.

(b) to (d) : OMCs have commissioned 192 distributorships and 416 ROs during last three years in the State of Maharashtra.
