Question : Revenue Earned by Air India

(a) the details of the revenue earned by Air India''s aircraft Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO) unit during the last three financial year''s including current year, year-wise;

(b) the total number of MRO facilities which have been proposed to be set up at various airports in the country and their current status of progress; and

(c) the steps taken by the Government for attracting big and small aircrafts within the country and abroad to make use of the MRO facilities located in the country?

(a): The details of the revenue earned by Air India from Outside Repairs by Engineering Department for the last three years are as under:

*Air India Engineering Services Limited is Air India''s aircraft maintenance repair and overhaul unit (MRO). This unit got approved under DGCA CAR 145 on 1st January 2015 and commenced business from January, 2015 onwards.

The above figures do not include maintenance charges billed by AIESL on Air India and group companies to the extent of Rs.131.40 crores for 2014-15 and Rs.594 crores for 2015-16.

(b): At present, there are total 95 MROs approved by DGCA at various locations of the country and there is no proposal pending with DGCA to set up Aircraft Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facilities at any airports of the country.

(c): The Government has issued a Customs notification allowing retention of foreign registered aircraft within the country for MRO purpose upto a period of 6 months.
