(a) the details of latest expert study/assessment of crude oil and gas reserves carried out in Assam;

(b) the total number of wells recommended for drilling for the purpose of exploration and development works; and

(c) the actual numbers of such wells drilled so far?

(a)to(c): Dr. A.W. Bally, was given consultancy project by Oil & Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (ONGC) on the `India`s Tertiary folded belts and fore land basins - a ranking of exploration opportunities`. This consultancy project had not made an assessment of crude oil & gas reserves of Assam nor recommended drilling of wells. The in-place reserves in Assam estimated by ONGC and Oil India Ltd. (OIL) as on 1.4.99 are about 1053 Million Metric Tonne of crude oil and 310 Billion Cubic Metre of natural gas.
