Answer given by the minister

MINISTER OF MICRO, SMALL AND MEDIUM ENTERPRISES
(SHRI NITIN GADKARI)

(a): Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) is not directly engaged in the production activities but the Institutions and individual entrepreneurs promoted by KVIC are manufacturing the Bamboo Bottles.

(b): Bamboo bottles are unique in nature, eco-friendly and bio-degradable products while plastic bottles are not bio-degradable. Hence, no comparison can be made between Plastic bottles and Bamboo bottles. Cost factor of manufacturing of Plastic and Bamboo bottles is not maintained by KVIC.

(c): As KVIC is not directly engaged in production activities of Bamboo bottles or Plastic bottles, hence no target is fixed in this regard.

(d): Does not arise.
