Question : Culture Fishing and Fishing Assistance

(a) the steps taken to certify fishermen under Recognition of Prior Learning Scheme;
(b) the number of trainees enrolled by Agriculture Skill Council of India for the segments of ‘Culture Fishing’ and ‘Fishing Assistance’ in the country including Andhra Pradesh;
(c) the placement statistics of such trainees;
(d) whether such training in the fishery segment also includes the training of disaster management; and
(e) if so, the details thereof?

(a): Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) for people engaged in Fishery Sector is being undertaken under Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) and State funded skill programmes.
(b): The total No. of trainees enrolled for RPL by various affiliated Training Providers is as under;
Segment Enrolled
Culture Fishing ( Aquaculture Worker, Shrimp Farmer and Hatchery Production Worker) 4,445
Capture Fishing (Inland capture fisherman cum primary processor, Marine capture fisherman cum primary processor) 15,816
Fishing Assistance RPL yet to be taken up
Total 20,261

(c): The trainee enrolled in Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) Programme are already engaged in their respective occupations and no fresh placement is undertaken for them.
(d) and (e): No Sir. The Qualification Packs developed cover the skills required for an individual to perform a specific task. Disaster Management capsule is not included in the Qualification Packs currently in use.
