be pleased to state :

(a) the details of the funds released by the Government to various States including Kerala under the National Livestock Mission (NLM) during the last two years;

(b) whether the Government has received any proposal from the State Government of Kerala to increase the sanctioned amount under NLM;

(c) if so, whether the Government is ready to make any changes in the sanctioned amount and if so, the details thereof; and

(d) whether the Government is ready to include small scale poultry farming under NLM and if so, the details thereof?

(a) The details of the funds released by the Government to various States including Kerala under the National Livestock Mission (NLM) during the last two years are Annexed.

(b) No Madam.

(c) Question does not arise.

(d) The productivity enhancement component under NLM, specifically Rural Backyard Poultry Development provides for supporting BPL families for rearing of backyard poultry. Under this component, SHGs/ NGOs, entrepreneurs may take up mother unit activity in small units which will procure the day old chicks either from the State Poultry Farms or from the private hatchery and will rear the birds upto 4 weeks of age, after which it is distributed to end beneficiaries. Around 45 birds are given to each selected BPL beneficiary family for rearing in their backyard. Further, under the component of ‘Entrepreneurship Development and Employment Generation’, specifically Poultry Venture Capital Fund, there is provision for a number of poultry activities of different scale and allied activities wherein back-ended capital subsidy is provided to the farmers.
