Question : Infiltration on Borders

(a) whether the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has submitted a detailed report to the Government regarding Pakistan infiltration operation recently;

(b) if so, the details thereof and the main contents of the report;

(c) the reaction of the Government thereto along with the measures taken/being taken on the basis of NIA report;

(d) whether the Government has deputed a team of officers to study this rising cross border infiltration in the country;

(e) if so, the details thereof along with the follow up action taken thereon; and

(f) the steps taken/being taken by the Government to strengthen the coordination amongst security agencies and to review the security norms from time to time to check the infiltrations?

(a) to (e): A report on infiltration of terrorists from Pakistan has been received in this Ministry from the National Investigation Agency. However, further details cannot be disclosed in the interest of the national security.

(f): The Government of India in tandem with the State Governments, have adopted a multi-pronged approach to contain cross border infiltration, which, inter alia, include strengthening of border management and multi-tiered deployment along the International Border/ Line of Control and near the ever changing infiltration routes, construction/ maintenance of border fencing, construction of culverts/bridges on nullahs, improved technology, weapons and equipments for Security Forces, improved intelligence and operational coordination, installation of border floodlights and synergizing intelligence flow to check infiltration and pro-active action against terrorists.
