(a) and (b): (i) Technology Incubation and Development of Entrepreneurs (TIDE) Scheme has been initiated by DeitY in FY 2008 to promote innovation by nurturing start-ups in Information Technology Communications & Electronics (ICTE) domain. Under the Scheme, financial assistance is provided to the institutions of Higher Learning for strengthening their Technology Incubation Centres for young entrepreneurs to set up technology start-up companies. Under the scheme till date 135 start-ups have been supported at 27 TIDE Centres as established in premier institutes like IIT’s, IIM’s, and NIT’s etc.
(ii) Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) an Autonomous Society under DeitY, is implementing Software Technology Park, (STP) scheme which is for the development and export of computer software in IT/ITES sector. STPI is also providing incubation facilities to IT/ITeS companies.
(c) and (d): Yes, Sir. Following initiatives have been taken to promote innovation in ICTE domain
(i)“Electronics Development Fund Policy” for promotion of R&D and IP Generation in the area of Electronics System Design and Manufacturing and IT has been initiated with an objective TO SUPPORT Daughter Funds including Early Stage Angel Funds and Venture Funds in the area of Electronics System Design and Manufacturing, Nano electronics and IT.. (ii) DeitY is implementing Multiplier Grants Scheme (MGS) to encourage collaborative R&D between industry and academics/ R&D institutions for development of products and packages. Details of the scheme can be seen at http://deity.gov.in/content/multiplier -grants-scheme-mgs-dpl-innovation.
(iii) The scheme titled “Support for International Patent Protection in E&IT (SIP-EIT) – II” for MSMEs and Technology Start-up Units to facilitate international patent filing through financial support has been initiated so as to encourage innovation and recognize the value and capabilities of global IP along with capturing growth opportunities in ICTE sector. (iv) A project for setting up of an Electropreneur park by Software Technology Parks of India (STPI), New Delhi in association with Delhi University (DU) and India Electronics & Semiconductor Association (IESA) has been initiated in June 2014.
