Question : Killing of Wild Animals

(a) the number of proposals received by the Government with regard to killing of wild animals during each of the last three years, State/UT-wise;
(b) the number of proposals for killing wild animals approved by the Government during the said period, State/UT-wise; and
(c)the number of wild animals killed during the said period, State/UT-wise?

(a) to (c) No specific proposals have been received from the State/Union Territory Governments requesting permission to kill wild animals. However, following States have sought issuance of notifcation under Section 62 of the Wild Life (Protection) Act, 1972, for declaring certain problematic animals in Schedule V of the Act.

In response to the request from the State Governments, the Ministry has issued following notifications:

However, no specific reports have been received from the State Governments regarding killing of any wild animal pursuant to these notifications.
