Question : EXPORT OF IRON ORE



(a) whether the Committee of Secretaries constituted for restricting iron ore export has referred it back to the Government;

(b) if so, the details thereof; and

(c) the action taken/proposed to be taken by the Government in this regard?

(a)&(b): Yes, Sir. As the Committee of Secretaries, could not reach a consensus on the matter of “restrictions on iron ore export of 64% Fe and above (fines and lumps), by maintaining it at current level for the next three years through canalization and review of all existing long term agreements (LTAs) at the time of renewal”, it was agreed that this may be decided by the government appropriately.

(c) The issue is under active consideration of the Government.
