Question : SUPPLY OF NEWSPAPERS IN AMRITSAR-DELHI SHATABDI EXPRESS



(a) whether the Railways provide daily newspapers in the Shatabdi Express running between Amritsar and Delhi for the use of travelling passengers;

(b) if so, the names of newspapers published from Punjab provided to passengers in the said train;

(c) whether the facility of providing some of the newspapers published from Punjab in the said train has been withdrawn recently;

(d) if so, the names of such newspapers alongwith the reasons therefor;

(e) whether the Railways propose to restore those newspapers in the said train;

(f) if so, the details thereof; and

(g) the criteria laid down for selection of newspapers to provide to the travelling passengers?

(a): Yes, Sir.

(b): Punjab Kesri, Ajit, The Hindustan Times and The Indian Express published from Punjab, are supplied to the passengers of Amritsar-New Delhi Shatabdi Express trains in the morning,

(c) to (f): Do not arise.

(g): Selection of newspapers is done on the basis of passengers` liking and availability.
